Governors' messages, 1919

New Hampshire-Gov. Bartlett recommends that by some reasonable financing the state provide $500,000 to cooperate with Maine in the construction of a bridge between Portsmouth and Kittery.

Pennsylvania-Gov. Brumbaugh states that a commission to consider the question of a bridge or tunnel between Philadelphia and Camden will present a report to the legislature and he urges careful consideration and early action on its recommendations; recommends that it be a memorial bridge.

New Hampshire-Gov. Bartlett recommends that a policy be outlined by which every toll bridge in the state be freed. New Jersey-Gov. Edge urges amendatory legislation so that a workable proposition alike in Pennsylvania and New Jersey may be devised for the condemnation of toll bridges.

Pennsylvania-Gov. Brumbaugh states that a number of toll bridges have been purchased by the state and made free, and recommends the state ownership of bridges between Pennsylvania and New York and their freedom from tolls.
