New Mexico-Gov. Larrazolo asks that a law
be passed to furnish free textbooks to chil-
dren in the elementary schools, wherever
it seems necessary.
South Dakota-Gov. Norbeck urges a selec-
tion and purchase of school books for the
state.

Texas-Gov. Hobby recommends the enactment of measures which will put into effect the recently adopted constitutional amendment giving free textbooks to the school children.

West Virginia-Gov. Cornwell recommends legislation limiting the percentage of textbooks that can be changed at any one time, and further recommends that the legislature investigate the whole matter of changing textbooks.

American acceptance council, which springs from the American trade acceptance council, was organized in New York on Jan. 21, 1919. The purpose of the organization is to conduct a nation-wide educational paign, designed to inform business people and bankers as to the merits of trade and bank acceptances, the method of their use in foreign and domestic merchandising, and to aid in the establishment of a comprehensive open discount market and to assist in other matters that will improve the credit system and strengthen the financial position of America.
