Australia-Act amending law of 1903 by providing that children should follow the assumed nationality of their parents. Bill also tightens up safeguards respecting application for naturalization. Bill requires applicant for naturalization not merely to take ordinary oath of allegiance but also to specifially renounce allegiance to country of birth. Provision is directed mainly against recent declaration of principles by Germany that Germans becoming naturalized do not renounce German citizenship. (Assented to S 24 '17).

President Wilson has approved the act to amend the naturalization laws and to repeal certain sections of the revised statutes of the United States relating to naturalization, and for other purposes. My 13 '18 Reports
