A General Thanksgiving.

Almighty God, Father of all mercies, we thine unworthy servants do give thee most humble and hearty thanks for all thy goodness and loving-kindness to us, and to all men we bless thee for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all, for thine inestimable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ, for the means of grace and for the hope of glory. And we beseech thee, give us that due sense of all thy mercies, that our hearts may be unfeignedly thankful; and that we may show forth thy praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives, by giving up ourselves to thy service, and by walking before thee in holiness and righteousness all our days, through Jesus Christ our Lord; to whom with thee and the Holy Ghost be all honour and glory, world without end. Amen.

We humbly beseech thee, O Father, mercifully to look upon our infirmities; and, for the glory of thy name, turn from us all those evils

which we most righteously have deserved: and grant that in all our troubles we may put our whole trust and confidence in thy mercy, and evermore serve thee in holiness and pureness of living, to thy honour and glory; through our only mediator and advocate, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Prayer of St. Chrysostom.

Almighty God, who hast given us grace at this time, with one accord, to make our common supplications unto thee; and dost promise, that when two or three are gathered together in thy name, thou wilt grant their requests: Fulfil now, O Lord, the desires and petitions of thy servants, as may be most expedient for them; granting us in this world knowledge of thy truth, and in the world to come life everlasting. Amen.

2 Cor. xiii. 14.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Ghost, be with us all evermore. Amen.

MORNING PRAYER FOR A PERSON IN PRIVATE.

OUR Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven: give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: for thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

The Third Collect, for Grace.

O Lord, our heavenly Father, Almighty and everlasting God, who hast safely brought me to the beginning of this day; defend me in the same with thy mighty power; and grant that this day I fall into no sin, neither run into any kind of danger; but that all my doings may be ordered by thy governance, to do always that is righteous in thy sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O most mighty God and merciful Father, who hast compassion upon all men, and hatest nothing that thou hast made; who wouldest not the death of a sinner, but that he should rather turn from his sin and be saved; mercifully forgive our trespasses; receive and comfort those who are grieved and wearied with the burden of their sins. Thy property is always to have mercy; to thee only it appertaineth to forgive sins: spare therefore, O Lord, spare thy servant, whom thou hast redeemed with thy most precious blood. I confess it has been of thy mercy alone that I am not consumed; for my sins have cried to heaven against me, and mine iniquities justly called for vengeance upon me. But thou hast not dealt with me after my sins, nor rewarded me after mine iniquities: O, let the consideration of this thy repeated goodness work in me true repentance, that iniquity may not be my ruin! And increase in me more and more a lively faith and love, fruitful in all holy obedience, that thou mayest continue, O Lord, thy favour to me for evermore; and that for thy dear Son's sake, Jesus Christ, our only mediator and advocate. Amen.

A General Thanksgiving.

Almighty God, Father of all mercies, I thine unworthy servant do give thee most humble and hearty thanks for all thy goodness and loving kindness to me and to all men. O God, the protector of all that trust in thee, without whom nothing is strong, nothing is holy; increase and multiply upon me thy mercy, that thou being my ruler and guide, I may so pass through things temporal, that I
