The June number 1758 contains the first appearance in America of "A Thanksgiving Sermon for the Important and Astonishing Victory Obtained on the Fifth of February, 1757 by the Glorious King of Prussia over the United and far Superior Forces of the Austrians in Silesia; Preached on the Sabbath of the Tenth of said Month at the Synagogue of the Jews in Berlin. By Michael Hirshel Frankel, Arch-Rabbi. Translated from the German Original." (See pp. 441-445.) For the appearance of this famous sermon in book-form see the following number. It was very popular and in 1758 two editions were issued in Boston, one in New York and one in Philadelphia (in German). An edition was again published in Philadelphia in 1763.
