As reported by a Committee on the nineteenth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and five.

FOR The better enabling the rulers of this Congrégation to govern the same agreeahly to the immutable principles of justice, and for the purpose of promoting harmony, peace and unity among the members thereof, as a religious society, a full and respectable meeting of the Congregation was held on the twenty-eighth day of April last, which •meeting was opened by Mr. Aaron Levy, arting Parnas, when Mr. Isaac Moses was Chosen Chairman, and L.M.Gomez, Secretary..........Mt. 4. Levy then stated to the meeting the object for which they were convened; whereupon it was moved and second, ed that a Committee of five be appointed të draft and report à suitable CONSTITUTION and BYE-LAWS..... The following gentkevien were thereupon nominated and chosen, viz. Messrs. Ephraim Hart. I Hart, sen. J. B. Kursheedt, M. Myers and M. L. Moses, who by virtue of the powers vested in them do recommend the following Constitution, as embracing proper fundamental principles, upon wrich all bates are to be hereafter predicated, so far as the same shall de consistent with the Act of Incorporation.

THE Congregation of Ifraelites in this City shall hereafter, and forever be known as a body corpo'rate by the name, ftile and title of THE CONGREGATION of Shearith ISRAEL in the CITY of NEWYORK

ARTICLE.II.
