HOW TO MAKE THE RAILWAYS PAY FOR THE WAR;

OR, THE TRANSPORT PROBLEM SOLVED

[graphic][merged small]

The artist, Mr. Cecil King, here depicts a portion of the railway level of a Clearing House. This particular drawing was designed to comply with American conditions, as will be seen by the fact that the Containers are here placed crossways on the railway trucks.

In the foreground is seen a Container being lowered from one of the sorting floors above.

Above the railway track, and at right angles to it, is seen one of the road bridges on the street level, on which there are motor lorries.
