This book is very good. I likes it too much. My daughter is doing her ME (CSE) from Parul college, Vadodara & uses your book. I also refer it sometimes to help her out.
Thanks,

This is a very good textbook for teaching.
It covers all the major concepts we need on a distributed database course, including database design, query processing, and transaction management.
The
book provides clear examples, figures and formalism throughout. I found particularly useful the algorithmic solutions, because a keen student is allowed to follow and understand the concepts in depth.
It also provides good pointers to supplemental material in case one needs to go deeper.
It makes a fit companion for graduate and undergraduate students interested in distributed databases.

This timely textbook presents fundamental concepts and detailed algorithms related to distributed database systems in a very clear and pedagogical manner. Several key aspects of distributed database systems are covered including query processing and optimization, transaction management, concurrency control, P2P data management and cloud data management.
For each chapter, I greatly appreciated how the authors exposed the particular aspects treated, with concern in presenting a coherent and well-structured overview of recent research results and detailed algorithms. Every chapter closes with a conclusion introducing the next chapter and listing selected literature references to point out global trends. It provides a series of exercises in order to facilitate assimilation of the presented concepts and algorithms.
Of fundamental importance to M.S., PhD students and researchers this textbook of excellent quality and pedagogy is very useful for everyone interested in distributed database systems. I recommend reading this textbook to all those looking for a clear and synthetic vision on distributed databases.

Although it covers most of the stuff, this book is kind of disappointing in the way it explains the concepts. I have found much better alternate sources that give a much more clear definition and most importantly simple illustrations of the algorithms / concepts.
It might be the terseness with which it was written , that could attribute to the disappointment.
Not a worth reading. Stick to alternate sources.
