GOD, the Creator and Preserver of all mankind, we humbly beseech thee for all sorts and conditions of men, that thou wouldest be pleased to make thy ways known unto them, thy saving health unto all nations. More especially we pray for the good estate of the Catholic Church, that it may be so guided and governed by thy good Spirit that all who profess and call themselves Christians may be led into the way of truth, and hold the faith in unity of spirit, in the bond of peace, and in righteousness of life. Finally, we commend to thy Fatherly goodness all those who are any ways afflicted or distressed in mind, body or estate; [*especially those for whom our prayers are desired,] that it may please thee to comfort and relieve them according to their several necessities, giving them patience under their sufferings, and a happy issue out of all their afflictions: and this we beg in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

blessings of this life; but above all, for thine inestimable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ; for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory. And, we beseech thee, give us that due sense of all thy mercies, that our hearts may be unfeignedly thankful, and that we may show forth thy praise, not only with our lips but in our lives, by giving up ourselves to thy service, and by walking before thee in holiness and righteousness all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O Father, thy will be done in our existence, in our prosperity and adversity, in our joys and sorrows, and in our passing away in thy good time from earth to our heavenly home. Amen.

This is the confidence that we have towards God, that if we ask anything according to his will he heareth us: and if we know that he hear us, whatever we ask we know that we have the petitions we desired of him. 1 John V. 14-15.

DE

EARLY beloved brethren, it is meet and right that we should enter the House of our God with reverential feeling, and with penitent and contrite hearts. We are gathered together, therefore, to offer our adorations and thanksgivings to the ever blessed God; to celebrate his glorious perfections; to praise him according to his excellent greatness; to magnify him for all his wonderful works; and, above all, for his great goodness and loving kindness to the children of men, And, seeing

that he is merciful and long suffering, and ever ready to pardon and accept all who turn to him with a true heart, let us draw nigh to him, and with united hearts and voices make confession of our sins; saying:

We have left undone those things which we ought to have done, And we have done those things which we ought not to have done. But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us. Spare thou them, O God, who confess their faults. Restore thou them that are penitent, according to thy promises declared unto mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord. And grant, O most merciful Father, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to the glory of thy Holy Name. Amen.

The people shall answer here and at the end of all other Prayers, AMEN.

GOD the God of Spirits and of all flesh, with whom no one can compare: and who art above all need: who givest the sun to govern the day and the moon and stars to govern the night: Look down upon us with thy favour and receive our morning thanksgivings, and have mercy upon us; for we have not spread forth our hands to any strange god. We have not chosen any new god among us,
