The word Islam means Peace, but for nearly 1,400 years its adherents have waged war--frequently on the grandest and most successful scales in history. This book introduces some of Islam's greatest military figures and analyzes significant events that are shaping the modern world. Nafziger and Walton detail the rich and diverse military histories of dozens of empires, nations, tribes, clans, and peoples.

Militant Islamists viewed the events of September 11, 2001, as merely one more step in an ongoing military campaign against the West and the United States. Major events in this ongoing war include the great Arab conquests in the Middle East and the Iberian Peninsula, the Crusades, Muslim India, the Seljuq and Ottoman Empires, naval warfare, colonialism, and the numerous military actions of modern Muslim states. Nafziger and Walton detail the rich and diverse military histories of dozens of empires, nations, tribes, clans, and peoples. They make a special effort to outline the military history of the Quran and show how Islamic theology justifies military effort. With considerable discussion of the military aspects of terrorism, this overview will provide the general reader with background information and analysis of parts of the world that are likely to remain a battleground for years to come.

The book is enlightening. The reviewer however is 'full of more holes than Swiss
cheese' as the saying goes. It would be hilarious if he were a comedian but it appears he's actually trying to be
serious.😂
He's correct about 'submission' as in submitting to God is correct This is what Christians are taught as well.
In all New Testament incidences where the word submit occurs, the word is translated from the Greek word hupotasso. The hupo means "under" and the tasso means "to arrange." This word and a root of it are also translated by the words subject and subjection. The word’s full meaning is "to obey, put under, be subject to, submit oneself unto, put in subjection under or be under obedience or obedient to."
This word is a wonderful definition of what it means to "submit" to God. It means to arrange oneself under the command of divine viewpoint rather than to live according to one’s old way of life based on a human viewpoint. It is a process surrendering our own will to that of our Father’s. This is what Christians as well as pious Muslim people strive for.
The reviewer writes:
The Koran teaches/instructs its 1400-year-old strategy, an obligation for each Muslim to kill the kafir (non-believer),
This is blatantly false. He's either trying to hoodwink you or has a simple minded mentality and therefore is unfamiliar with differenti types of Muslims. Seems like you're interested in ISIS and Al-Qaeda. That's fine. Then learn about them. Read about Salifist-Jihadists. You're mistaken if you think you're talking about Muslim people as a whole. Have you asked yourself-why is there much more Muslim on Muslim violence than Muslim on Christian violence or vice versa?
I would recommend this reviewer to take a religious studies, Islam 101 course. Or take a refresher course by Dr. Mary Habeck. She's a strategic planner and an expert on military matters, Islam and extremism. She teaches on al-Qa’ida/ISIS at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and at Georgetown...
In fact, isn't it true that a Muslim will be punished in this world under the law for killing someone. S/he will also be banished to Hellfire by God in the afterlife unless s/he repents, reinstates his or her faith, and lives a life of good deeds (Quran 25:68-70).
Perhaps I should feel sorry for this reviewer that he along with many of our neighbors are confused by the persistent propaganda that it is not terrorists but “Islam itself” that is the problem.
They quote the Quran out of context to achieve this goal. In reality, these people with an ax to grind and money to make represent a $200 million dollar-plus hate industry, which promotes such bigoted misrepresentations and smears against Islam and Muslims. These people are also given multiple platforms and mediums to state this nonsense, as well as countless online venues. Perhaps you are one of them. Recommend more of Nafziger's books to educate yourself. Educate yourself first by reading more then let's chat. I have a gmail account. Mmikejohnson971
