The need for this Institute is shown by the fact that since its foundation a thousand Christian young men-volunteers for Foreign Missionary service-have applied to be received in it, and that there remain a thousand millions of mankind to be evangelized. One hundred missionaries have been trained and sent forth by the Institute, who are now labouring successfully in France, Spain, Italy, Syria, Armenia, West, South, and East Africa, including the Gambia, the Congo, Cape Colony, Kaffraria, the lakes Nyassa and Tanganyika, several parts of India, in most of the provinces of China, in Australia, New Zealand, North and South America, and in the West Indies. None but tested Christian workers are received for training. The students are of various nationalities, and of all evangelical denominations. The course of training is gratuitous, and for the supply of its large current expenditure the Institute is solely dependent on Him whose Kingdom it seeks to extend.

Third Edition, one large volume, 700 pp., 7s. 6d., cloth.

"This is an admirable book. Two-thirds of the whole are devoted to the consideration of The Divine System of Times and Seasons, Natural and Revealed, which is treated with great ability."-The Rock.

"Full of precious truth, solid, nutritious instruction, careful analysis, and most painstaking investigation."-The Christian Herald.

"We cordially urge upon our readers the perusal of this weighty and earnest work."

"SERVICE FOR THE KING."

A Monthly Record of Work for the Lord

IN CONNECTION WITH THE

Conference Hall, Mildmay Park.

TERMS OF SUBSCRIPTION

For the first fifteen monthly numbers from Oct., 1879, to Dec., 1880 :Great Britain, Two Shillings and Sixpence. Post-free, Three Shillings and Twopence; as also to Countries in the Postal Union.

IT is by the invitation and advice of many friends, and that advice often reiterated, that the workers connected with the Conference Hall, Mildmay Park, and its various Mission agencies have, after long hesitation, consented to issue a small monthly record, which, while it will tend to keep in remembrance much of God's loving mercy to His servants, will strengthen the links already formed with fellow-labourers in many lands, and open a channel of intercommunication between those whom twenty-three years of Conferences have drawn together.

The various agencies which have grouped themselves around the Conference Hall as their centre, have each their own story to tell, and we owe it to the friends who so kindly support them by their prayers and contributions, that they should be made acquainted with their progress. The workers who have gone forth from us to heathen lands, and others closely associated with us, send tidings which we doubt not would be welcome to many whose sympathies are already enlisted in the overwhelming needs of the foreign fields;—while the Mission to Israel carried on in immediate connection with the Hall, can supply subject-matter of deep and peculiar interest.

Service for the King, and words "touching the King," must ever find a response in the hearts of the King's servants until He come. We plead for their kindly encouragement and co-operation, in the hope of being permitted from time to time to add our small contribution to the many pages already dedicated to the cause of Christ and His Church.

R. MORETON.

C. PENNEFATHER.
