Many of the existing bridges are in need prolonged life considering the design life when built . In addition it is not uncommon that the owner wishes to increase the speed , weight and traffic volume on the already busy routes .
To reconstruct it , a new 550 m long bridge was proposed on a place located 100 m upstream to the existing one . The existing bridge had to be dismantled and demolished . The new bridge investment had a high cost .
