Sights in the Sands of Cholistan: Bahawalpur's History and Architecture

Major General Shujaat Zamir Dar spent his childhood in the Northern Areas of Pakistan and developed a love for nature, polo, and heritage. He was educated at the Cadet College, Hasan Abdal, after which he joined the army where he served on various command, instructional and staff appointments. He was able to translate his concern for the preservation of heritage into actual practice when he was posted as General Officer Commanding in Bahawalpur, with his office being situated in Darbar Mahal, and initiated the restoration of the monument. Currently, as Inspector General Frontier Corps, Balochistan, he is involved in the improvement of educational and health facilities in the rural and remote areas of the province, as well as in the preservation of buildings such as the Robert Sandeman residence in Zhob.
